Why a dentist?

Dentists complete extensive training in facial anatomy in dental school — more hours studying the head and neck than any other healthcare professional except oral surgeons. Many of the same nerves and muscles relevant to dental anesthesia, TMJ care, and oral surgery are the targets for facial esthetic injections. Dr. Anand's AAFE training builds on that foundation with specific injection technique training.

What to expect at your appointment

1. Consultation. We discuss your goals, evaluate the area, and recommend treatment with realistic expectations and a written estimate.
2. Treatment. Takes 15-30 minutes. Topical numbing is used as needed. Most patients describe the sensation as quick pinches.
3. Aftercare. Avoid lying flat for 4 hours, no strenuous exercise the rest of the day, no facial massage for 24 hours.
4. Results. Botox develops over 3-7 days; full effect at 2 weeks. Fillers show immediate results, settling fully over 2 weeks.

Pricing

Botox is typically priced per unit ($12-$16/unit in central NJ). A typical cosmetic area uses 20-40 units. Dermal fillers are priced per syringe ($550-$850 depending on the filler). We provide written estimates before any treatment. Botox is not covered by dental insurance.
