The same dentistry. A different pace.
Many families arrive here after being turned away somewhere else — or after a visit that went badly enough that nobody wanted to try again. NJ DenTales Group is a full surgical and restorative practice, and that does not change for patients with special needs. Dr. Manpreet Anand performs the same implants, extractions, dentures, and routine care. What changes is the pacing, the environment, and how much time we take.

What we actually do differently
Longer appointments, scheduled on purpose
We block more chair time for these visits. Nobody is watching a clock, and nobody is rushed out so the room can be turned over. If a visit needs to end early, it ends early and we try again.
Desensitization visits
An appointment where nothing clinical happens. The patient walks in, looks around, meets the team, sits in the chair if they want to, and leaves. That is the whole visit. Many patients do best after two or three of these before any treatment is attempted. There is no limit on how many we will do.
Sensory accommodations
Dimmable overhead lighting, noise-reducing headphones, weighted blankets on request, and quieter appointment windows with less foot traffic in the office. Tell us what helps and what does not — we will set the room up before you arrive.
Tell-show-do
Every instrument is named, shown, and demonstrated on a finger or a model before it goes near a mouth. No surprises. This is standard behavior-guidance technique and it is remarkably effective for patients who need to know what happens next.
Caregivers stay
Parents, siblings, aides, and support staff are welcome in the treatment room for the entire visit. Whatever helps.
Wheelchair access and transfer assistance
Our operatory is wheelchair accessible and we allow extra time for transfers. Let us know when you book.
Dr. Anand's training
This is not an accommodation we improvised. Dr. Manpreet Anand completed advanced training at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in behavior guidance, anxiolysis, and the management of patients with special healthcare needs, and has treated special needs populations through Rutgers University's community program in Trenton — patients who often face real barriers to finding any dentist at all.
Full treatment, not just cleanings
A common frustration: an office will do a cleaning for a special needs patient but refer out anything harder. Because Dr. Anand does her own surgery and restorative work, that referral usually is not necessary. Implants, surgical extractions, wisdom teeth, dentures, root canals, crowns, and Invisalign are all done here, by the same person, in the same room the patient has already gotten used to.
Insurance
We accept most major PPO plans, Sunbit and CareCredit financing, and an in-house membership plan for uninsured patients.
Before your first visit, call us
Every patient is different, and a five-minute phone call tells us more than any form. Call (908) 800-7600 or text (201) 895-5300 and tell us what your loved one needs — what sets them off, what calms them down, what has failed before. We will set the office up accordingly and schedule the right amount of time.
