TMJ and orofacial pain relief โ€” a specialty of Dr. Anand.

If you live with jaw pain, clicking, headaches, or facial tension, you are not alone โ€” and you do not have to keep suffering. Dr. Anand completed advanced clinical training at the University of Michigan's Orofacial Pain & TMJ Clinic and is certified in ADA Botox and Dermal Filler therapy for TMJ disorders. At NJ Dentales Group in Somerville, we offer a full continuum of TMJ care.

Common signs of a TMJ disorder

  • Jaw pain or tenderness, especially when chewing
  • Clicking, popping, or grinding sounds when opening your mouth
  • Chronic headaches or migraines, especially on waking
  • Ear pain with no infection, ringing (tinnitus), or a feeling of fullness
  • Locking of the jaw open or closed
  • Worn-down or chipped teeth from clenching/grinding (bruxism)
  • Facial tension that radiates into the neck and shoulders

Our TMJ treatment approach

Every patient's jaw is different, so our approach is individualized. After a thorough exam and imaging, Dr. Anand will typically recommend one or a combination of the following:

Oral Appliance Therapy

Custom-made night guards and repositioning splints that take pressure off your jaw joint while you sleep. Often the first and most effective treatment.

Botox for TMJ

Dr. Anand is ADA-certified in therapeutic Botox injections, which relax overactive jaw muscles that drive grinding and pain. Results typically last 3-4 months.

Physical Therapy & Posture Guidance

Simple at-home exercises and posture corrections that address the root cause, not just symptoms.

Bite Correction

If a misaligned bite is contributing, we can correct it with Invisalign, selective adjustment, or restorative work.

When to seek TMJ treatment

If you have experienced jaw pain, morning headaches, or unexplained facial tension for more than two weeks, it is time to get it evaluated. Untreated TMJ disorders can cause permanent changes to your jaw joint and teeth โ€” early intervention is much easier than late-stage treatment.
